Sometimes the best thing is just to have a friend to coexist with you.

And that’s a wrap for this Anniversary Special! You might have a few questions, and I’ll try to address them here, but feel free to ask me anything in the comments.

First, does this mean Chapel is back for good? I don’t know. Maybe, or maybe not! I think the comic works best when I’m making it because I want to, but I’m in university right now, and I don’t have as much free time as I did before.

Secondly, why did I stop Chapel? Well, back in 2015, I just wasn’t feeling really creative. I was burned out and took a break. Quickly afterwards, I became severely ill which lasted a few years. And now I’m in college, studying in a five-year Dual Degree program between Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design! Despite the pandemic, I’m really happy with where I’m at in life.

Without Chapel, I would never have pursued a life as a cartoonist. Every reader of this comic gave me that chance. Thank you, sincerely, for changing my life for the better. I hope you liked this surprise installment.
What a surprise - and a welcome one. So long since I've been here.
Was wondering how you were going health wise and decided to drop in. And what do I see? New content.

As a long time reader (and occasional commenter), can I just say that the final panel of page 10 is perfect.

Oh, wow- I hopped on here just for the heck of it, totally not expecting to find an almost-new Chapel comic! My, the memories here, all those years ago. I honestly don't even remember what nickname I used when I commented. xD

What a treat to get to visit with Chapel again! I hope you're doing well!

I don't have a Twitter account, but I open a bookmark of twitter accounts daily. I've recent;y added yours. Your "How to be in a coma" strips have... reminded me of a time in high school when I was in a coma, woke up, had no idea what had happened, and what I had to learn immediately.
I would very much love, maybe even need, a set of prints or a comic, even if it has been... 29 years since it happened to me.
The "You need to keep up with your current work" wasn't so bad, but the "you also need to make up the work you've missed" had very drastic effects on my high school GPA and motivations thereafter.
I know you probably don't read new comments often, but know I would pay a premium for these prints or comics. I imagine you have access to my email addy if you need right? Please and thank you!

why hello there everyone! (for those who knew me way back when, i think you’ll all agree that my nickname needed an update in light of recent events!) what a joy to return here nearly nine years (!!!) after i first started commenting to see the joy that chapel still brings. emma, you already know this, but you have been changing my life for the better since i was 12 years old, and at 22 you’re still such a joyful and inspirational presence in it. i’m so grateful to have grown up with chapel and you, and this site will forever hold a really special place in my heart. happy, happy birthday!

I'm working on a writing project dealing with Providence. I really want to visit it someday. Thanks so much for these. They made a bad day so much better.

I love Providence, even if I don't love the cold. If you're there anytime before summer 2023, let me know and I'll show you around!
